What a let down........a book of short stories that are twee and unsatisfying. Don't waste your money. Not in the same league as most of her other books.
Rating: - I loved it
it is the day before Christmas Eve, and this book has really got me into the Christmas Spirit. She writes families and their complicated expectations around Christmas with her usual sharp observations, the characters are great. I think the only disappointment is that sometimes you would like to spend a little more time with the characters!

I have always enjoyed Maeve Binchy but this one let me down. VERY short stories - nothing to get to grips with and one that I put down for several days in between readings (unheard of with this author).

Thankfully I didn't spend my hard earned cash on this book otherwise I might have asked for a refund. Maybe the fact I read this book at a time far removed from Christmas (Tenerife in September to be precise) didn't help.
Being a fan of Maeve Binchy I was thoroughly disappointed to find that rather than a good meaty read it was just a series of short stories. Granted all well written but none lasting more than a few pages.
