Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great book for humble food with plenty of flavour
This is a fantastic little book if you want ideas for rustic and seasonal foods. The complaints about not having certain recipes that were in the programme is kinda silly. If you were just interested in 2 recipes why buy the whole book?
If you like to friends coming over for a nice pot of something or to impress somebody with a lovely duck breast, this book is worth purchasing. The recipes are not complicated, although there are certain aspects you must follow to achieve the climax you want.

Having seen an episode of the BBC TV programme by the same name I purchased the book, only to find two of the dishes featured in the TV program were not to be found in the book. I had to go on the BBC Food site to obtain these recepies, I wish I had done so in the first place and saved myself ten pounds. Not having seen the rest of the TV episodes I have no idea how many more of the recepies are not included in this rather lacking cookery book. The dishes that ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - full of flavour - of the food and the cook himself!
What to Eat Now is a good cook book, and a great read - perfect for dipping in and out of as the evenings get dark and chillier. The focus is on getting the best from seasonal ingredients, and Valentine Warner has a down-to-earth way of describing types of food that I'd normally avoid as 'too complicated', like venison or pigeon, that makes you want to get down to your local butcher and try them out. There's also simple stuff like corned beef hash (delicious!) and a definitive scrambled eggs. His writing ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Huge Disappointment
I strongly agree with the last review. After watching all of those wonderful dishes being so passionatly put together each week I was most upset to discover such a high number of them NOT included in the book. Valentine HAS included some of his own charming illustrations but I wasnt in the market for an art book! Inspirational TV but, sorry Val, I had to sent your book back!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not a true reflection of the TV Programme
This is indeed an excellent and inspiring book, but since I bought it I've sat in frustration every week as the TV show has been broadcast, as not all of the recipes are repeated in the book (a pheasant dish, pear chutney...) so I've had to scribble down the recipes each time. Really disappointing and not what I'd expect from a BBC book.
