I bought this camera to use as a video surveillance camera from my house to an area where I park my car. I know this is not what it was designed for but the results were excellent. The car is parked just off road and about 15 metres away from my house.

Rating: - Powerful & Easy
My Dell laptop has a built-in web cam, but the resolution is only 640 X 480, which is fairly standard. It's a bit blurry and the color is off. It fine for basic communication, but I wanted something better. A friend has a `Logitech Quick cam Communicate STX' and I was surprised at how clear and non-blurry it was. I like Logitech, but wanted something a little sleeker that would just fit on my screen. The Pro 9000 is the answer and its easily rests on top of your screen or on its own stand.

Rating: - Worth the extra money. Absolutely brilliant.
This is a brilliant little webcam that I got for making calls and videocalls (free with Skype) when I am away from home with work. The sound, picture and video quality are all brilliant. It is really amazing how good the quality is on High Quality Skype (still free) and the autofocus and clever lighting feature gives a great result. Have been using skype for 5 years and introduced friends and families to it so I could talk to them across the Global. During the years they all got webcams and I resisted as I look crap on video! My friends and families webcams were okay but I wasn't impressed with the quality of the picture and the cost of the item.

Rating: - Works out-of-the-box on Linux
You'll have a right laugh taking the webcam out of the box, and removing the little piece of paper telling you that you should slot in the driver CD before plugging the camera.
Under Linux, the device uses the standard UVC driver, and doesn't need firmwares, or other garbage. The image quality is great, the microphone works without a problem and it sits nicely on top of my screen. Nice kit.
