'Master of the cruel one-liner'--Evening Standard 'His eye for absurdity is as sharp as his suits'--Guardian
Critically acclaimed comedian Frankie Boyle presents his hotly-anticipated first live stand-up DVD. Recorded live during his sell-out shows at London’s Hackney Empire, Frankie’s unique brand of observational comedy and brutal but perfectly constructed one-liners prove he is one of the best gag writers in the business.
As the stand out act on top-rated satirical comedy show Mock The Week, the sharp-suited Scotsman shows us just a slice of what he’s capable of. In this DVD he unleashes his razor-sharp wit upon the audience with jokes that are too near the knuckle for TV, constantly venturing onto thin ice with outrageous jibes that could be utterly offensive if not delivered with equal measures of visceral cheek and sarcasm, demonstrating the full force of his comic prowess.

Rating: - Absolutely Hilarious and Disgraceful!
I have no idea what all the other reviewers are talking about, this is ridiculously funny. Hes brilliant on Mock The Week, and follows on from it in superb fashion! I dont care if hes reused some gags, since you cant actually buy Mock The Week on DVD, im glad now i can relive some of his best whenever i so wish.
I love his no-holds-barred cruel dark style, many a time i had tears running it was so funny! Jokes about the queen, Diana etc are utterly brilliant. If you appreciate his input ... Read More
Rating: - A Lazy Let Down
I have only recently come to know Frankie Boyle's work, on Mock the Week, which I am watching re runs of on Dave every other day. I was impressed by him on the show, and bought this dvd based on this.
I was stunned by the show, in a bad way, and hardly got a laugh out of it at all. Why? Because I'd say that some 70% of the material is recycled stuff from Mock the Week. I was really annoyed actually! I noticed a lot of the audience shown weren't laughing either, imagine going to a comedy gig to ... Read More
Rating: - Not As Good As It Should Have Been
Frankie Boyle is a regular on Mock The Week, and I've always enjoyed his banter on there - his speedy responses on the show make his seat valuable to the BBC. Yes, he's very controversial, and has even been quoted by Emily Maitlis when discussing the level of humour on the network, but I think it's more about his delivery of his jokes than what he says.
This is the show he did in Hammersmith - and it's really mediocre - I like the interaction with the audience, but the jokes are just recycled ... Read More
Rating: - What are you people on about
I have just watched the Russell Howard DVD and it was so boring, he uses just as much if not more material from Mock the Week.
This Frankie Boyle DVD had me laughing out loud many times, I borrowed it off a friend and watched it one afternoon and I knew what bits I had heard before off Mock the Week but there was still a good deal of material that had me rolling.
It's offensive yes, and he insults the crowd, so what. If its funny who cares...
Rating: - definitely disappointing
hmm, well, I too have laughed like a drain at Frankie on MTW, but this DVD leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. Much of the material is familiar, much of it is a tad offensive, but not outrageously so. The man just comes across as having ZERO charisma or connection with his audience, it feels like he's on stage to do a job and make his money and go home. While the DVD will make you laugh in places, it will not leave you gasping for breath like Bill Bailey or Eddie Izzard.
