Rating: - Waste of time and money
The mixed reviews put me on alert, but as I wanted to try and scan my slide collection without breaking the bank, this seemed a good place to start.
However, the quality is awful. I only scanned 3 slides (one load of the holder), but it was enough. The originals were all reasonable quality, the scanner totally overexposed all facial detail on two head & shoulder shots and while the exposure was better on a group shot, colour/detail and resolution was hopeless. Tried fiddling with ... Read More
Rating: - Nice idea but slides overexposed
I bought this unit with a view to converting about 700 slides. Its small size was ideal and the software installed without problem. Some of the slides were acceptable but the majority were overexposed with complete loss of detail in lighter areas which could not be recovered using the software. Unfortunately there is no way of adjusting the exposure. Rating: - Could be really good, but isn't
Easy to use? Yes. Quick? Definitely. Good quality scans? Not at all!

I guess you get what you pay for! I found the output on B&W negatives was acceptable, but colour rendition from colour negs was variable andf the final image was a bit "flat". Colour slide reproduction is simply appalling though - very contrasty images, colours all wrong - what more can I say! Overall, despite every effort in cleaning the glass scan-bed area with both the supplied cleaning pad and my air blowers and camera brush, I could not get rid of dust in the system so every scan came out ... Rating: - Pleasantly Surprised
I installed this scanner with ease on a Windows XP laptop and within an hour had two 35mm films scanned in. After a while I got into a routine, getting familiar with the loading, button pressing, transferring etc and would expect to get a 36 frame film scanned in about 15 minutes in future.
I had been apprehensive about how the scans would come out having seen the mixed reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. I would say I am fairly demanding on sharpness and colour accuracy; I am a mid-range ... Read More
