Rating: - Slight disappointment.
Viva la Diva - I was really looking forward to seeing the video but at the end felt slightly disappointed. The singing and dancing were enjoyable but I felt, as a great fan of musicals, that many of the numbers were taken too slowly and the continuity also seemed slow. Maybe this was a result of the editing, mentioned by other reviewers. I felt the pace could have been speeded up a bit. Perhaps the DVD didn't make the best of the stage show.
Rating: - DVD quality disappointing
The content of this DVD is fantastic. Full marks to Katherine and Darcey for entertainment. The disappointment is the fuzzy recording. While watching Katherine and Darcey sing in the first couple of numbers there are fuzzy spots in front of their faces somewhat like the privacy patches one sees in news dramas. Rating: - stunning!
Absolutely stunning. The sets, dancers and band are brilliant.
Darcey Bussell?........WOW!
Katherine Jenkins?........WHAT A VOICE!
The whole show is wonderful and probably better on DVD than sitting at the back of the O2 arena.
Rating: - Beware- Formatted for US DVD
I desperately wanted this and got it on my birthday but could not get it to play properly. Tried home DVD system, PS3 and PC - all played it badly. Then after returning it for another copy we found out it is recorded in NTSC format - as used in America. We use PAL in the UK, so no wonder it wouldn't play properly.
Rating: - An excellent production, let down by poor camera work, poor editing, and fuzzy NTSC
Full marks to Bussell and Jenkins for putting together and performing this high-quality and fun show, but boo-hiss for the camera operator and the editor for a barely adequate final product.
The camera work is somewhat frenetic, resting on a shot for only a few seconds. While this doesn't really detract from Katherine Jenkins' performance, where we concentrate on her voice, it completely fails for Darcey Bussell's dance, as it would for any ballet or modern dance.
