I used this product to temporarily install the IDE hard drive from my old PC into my new PC so that I could copy over the contents. The adapter plugs into the back of the drive and requires a power supply for it (and for the drive itself, of course). It comes with a power adapter, too, but I didn't require this. The final piece of the package is the SATA cable to connect the adapter to the motherboard.
